safe turbo kit for d series vtec
Im running the 1.6L SOHC VTEC in my 95 civic. I dont really want to put a b18 in my car. what would be safe turbo to run in it. i was thinking about getting a small turbo and running about 10 pounds of boost as opposed to buying a bigger turbo and running the same amount of boost because its not safe for that motor. anyone have any good ideas for me?

RE: safe turbo kit for d series vtec
I think that the general consensus around here is that 6-7lbs of boost is safe on a stock motor. If you wanna run higher amounts of boost, you could rebuild the motor. Big $$$, but really big gains as well.

maybe get a thicker head gasket and some headstuds, and dont drive it like a F1 car and get a good tune and you could maybe run 10 psi daily driven.

a good kit is a greddy ,apex i, or the edlelbrock kit (real expensive though). just don't go crazy with the boost and you should be fine

The kit plays a big part, but the tune is where the safety and reliability comes in.
