Sure, they're everyone's new favorite straight-line wonder-child, but calling that "performance" is disregarding an entire side of the equation: The kind of driving where you actually have to turn.

I thought the SRT-4 was a DSM motor with an even uglier body style.?? Are those motors the same as the Eclipse/lazer/talons?

possibly...but DSMs can be made fast as hell...weather you like it or not. i think the neons have tuned DSM engines. theyre a lot quicker than most import tuners like to think

you guys are great, lol, i think ill like it here. i do have to admit i like the performance from the srt-4, but damn, it just still looks like a freon with some better body cladding. and no, no typo, i said egay header, and the dood who said i got 110 hp is on crack. got it dynoed and it ran 113 to the wheels, i sure wold like more power tho, b16a in my future i think. or keep this single slamma and put a turbo on it, its already set up for it with the engine mods i got now. what do you guys think about boosting the zc i already have? anyone have exp with that?

It's a re-engineered 420a of sorts, NOT a 4G63... Then SRT4's might actually be REALLY fast. It's the 2G Eclipse RS engine, etc.

The kind of driving where you turn is what the ACR is for is stands for American Club racing if I remeber right... it was designed with just enough of them made to allow them into the "Stock" class in scca and they were winning...

i have all stock internals, but have all skunk2 bolt ons, manny, tb, cam gear, exh etc....from what i understand so far is that this zc sohc no vtec has a lumpier cam than the usdm and better crank and pistons. i dont know, its just what ive heard. can any of you guys verify that?

yeah....the 1st gen ACR was a neon RT, with all of the non-essential items removed...they were intended, as mentioned, to run a stock 4 cylinder race class.

and as your local dodge fanboy, i have to laugh at the fact that SRT4s are just as mod-accepting as the DSMs, but everyone trashes them because theyre neons...

that being said, i could have bought one for less than i paid for my (slower) stratus, but i already have a fast car, and i wasnt willing to pay 20 grand for a neon with an engine upgrade. the interior is very cheap, the rear windows are manual, no leather, etc. if i didnt have the white car, i probably would have gotten one, but i was in the market for a speedy coupe, not a fast sedan...
