unorthadox racing makes lightweight pulleys that are the same size as the orinaly pulleys so they dont reduce alternator outputs or power steering or ac components... same goes with aem. they are ENGINERED for more power with still being safe on an engine....

I was not talkign about accessory pulleys. What I said was that crank pulleys hurt your engine.

true they hurt your engine......but only if your engine is equiped with a harmonic type balancer found on the 1.6+ engines.....the 1.5 come with a non balanced pulley and can use a underdrive lightweight pulley without problems.

Alright thread from the dead with this one.....but i'm looking into an underdrive pulley kit and found this thread. So you guys are saying this would actaully hurt my electrical power output? I have subs and neons and all that fancy stuff, so i definately don't want to lose electrical power.

That kit has an alternator pulley, so the alternator will be putting out less power. The whole point of underdrive pulleys is to turn the accessories (alternator) slowers and turn the transmission faster. This puts more power to the wheels. In your case, the alternator will be putting out less power. Underdrive pulleys are a bad idea on a street car, but an especially bad idea on a car with as much stuff as you. You might even want to look into an alternator that makes more power, not something that reduces the power of your alternator.
