"Fast" is somewhere near or below 10, but it'll cost you to get there. C5SpoonEG is in the mid to low 12's if I remember correctly, and that's all motor. A boosted GSR with nothing but a head swap, a stock Type R cam, a B16 tranny, and an LSD can hit low 12s/high 11s all day on 10 psi (give or take based on turbo and trim.)

And your engine is plenty more than twice the size.

Hmm, lets' see...

Spoon's B18C5 = 1.8 liters and 240Hp all motor and untuned

Your Camaro = 5.7 liters and what? 300Hp? and that's with 50 years of Bowtie technology.

That's 133Hp per liter for Spoon and a whopping 52Hp per liter for you.

And if I may...

"Yes, there is a replacement for displacement. It's called Volumetric Efficiency."

Here, click this...Drag race ... and that's just the 1.6 liter street legal daily driver with no bottle.

It's a local guy that works at the speed shop here in town. It's a built JDM B16 with I believe 17psi. LSD, mad fuel management... the works. I think he's pushing 400wHp. He said he is running 9100 rpm when he crosses the 1/4 mile. Holy hell.

It's not all about straight lines with us man. I base my acceptable level of "fast" through the twisties

Default RE: Whats Fast

since youre talking about quarter mile times, i woudl have to say that it varies by the car. "Fast" is in the 9s for any car, but say that someone is running an NA civic, i feel that low 12s/high 11s is fast. Boosted, i would say that those times shift into the mid to low 11s. However, for a V8 car like mine or yours, fast is 10s. My car is running low compression, and is no where near its "limit", and on 87 octane, im in the mid to low 12s, with the old setup, and now i cant get traction. new skins have been ordered, so in a few weeks (i hope) ill have reports of a new time. With my car, I would be pretty happy with high 11s. Then, if you get into high performance cars, like modded vipers, heavily built LS1 cars, terminators, etc, "fast" is in the 7s.

for a 4 banger turbo running under 11s is pretty damn fast IMO. 12s and maybe 11s on a n/a engine is tough but doable, just need the funds and knowhow.
