whats the best swap for a 1989 si?
 
hey i just want some info. on what swap would be the best for the 1989 si. i was looking toward the h22 or the b18c5. but i have read that one is better than the other. what should i go for? THX for the info.

the h22 is a hard engine to fit and is costly because of all the parts you need. a b18c5 would be the way to go, but it will cost a lot also, but a much easier swap to do.

h22........once its in and running its still cheaper than a type r swap, makes more power and has a broader power band. but for the cost of either you can build your si engine and turbo it then run circles around the h22 and c5 assuming you do the work yourself.

both of those are going to require some custom fab...id go b16 gsr or ls to simplify your life and with the extra money boost that bitch

thread from the dead man, and a b18c5 type r is the same size and mounts as a b16 or gsr, so there would be no custom fab work.
