just thought i'd share with everyone. while driving around town last night, i had some pecker on my butt for a few blocks. finally, he decided to switch lanes and go around. i noticed it was a 7th gen Si, and as he pulled beside me, we hit a red light. so we're both first in line at the light, and he starts revving his engine. so i start revving mine up and the light turns and i take off and so does he....and i won?!?! i also squealed my tires, which i thought was funny because i can never do that on command. so, the next light was red, but turned green when we got to it, and i was just driving along, and the Si goes blowing past me. long story short, we ended up hitting another red light and we went again, and this time he managed to pull ahead of me, but not by much. i just thought it was kinda funny that the first time i managed to embarrass him, and the second time i kept up with him. i don't really think he was a good driver, but it keeps putting a smile on my face to think about it. hehe...:D

7th gen si's are slow, stock. but respond well to bolt-ons, plus with a good driver is a deadly beast. all this trash talk on 7th gens is getting on my nerves[:@]

For real. I own a 7th gen Si and granted it is slow stock (just like any civic) but with simple bolt ons and a good driver your deep into the lower 14s from what Ive seen. So dont hate. [sm=shutup.gif]

Just keeping it real. When any vehicle is done right it can be fast. The K20A3 has been a good platform for boost from most people say and a head swap from an A2 will bump up the power. I personally am going to go NA and will eventually do this swap plus alot more. Plus how many people have the mini minivan civic? Its the least me-too civic out of all of them. And the ladies love my "shifter position". ;)

it's an 01. i just thinks it's funny because whoever was driving the Si kept revving their engine, so they obviously wanted to go for a run. my car isn't all that quick, so i figured i'd get burned, but nope. :D

Nice kill. I don't like the 7th gen either. I think Honda is goofing the Civic up big time. I love the older styles: '92-2000.

Lower 14s is more than ok with me with simple bolt ons. Maybe thats just me. And Marty is right. The 7th gens are just pigs. Heavy pigs. But still lighter than an RSX. You must own a 7th gen to like it. I understand. I get hated on all the time. But I love my Si. Its a fun car to drive and like I said it the least me-too of all civics. Its all good though. I can't stay mad at you guys. [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

No civic responds "well" with bolt ons other than FI "bolt ons"

i agree unless you got some serious money into the engine with high compression but then that wouldnt be considered bolt on anymore
Pete

exactly. Bolt ons are usually refered to as intake, header, exhaust, intake, intake mani and pullies. Do they respond? Yes. Do they respond well for the $ u spent on em.............not a chance.

i agree with pete. personally...im starting to get put out by people saying I/H/E is the best way to start when for the price youd spend on them you could get a good turbo setup.

With the correct selection in parts(not any of this mainstream bs) you can make a ok power jump with basic bolt ons, a cam, and a tune.

while that may be true, there is alot of hassle that can go along with boosting a stock NA car...
and knight, low 14s is decent for a basically stock 4 cylinder...or so i feel. id be happy if my dd ran low 14s...

Yea thats a believable kill. Ive hung with stock 7th gen si's all the way up to about 110 mph by then its over. That race would definitley come down to driver. IMHO though I would boost an A3 long before any D-series. I think most of the7th Gen hate comes from Haters who wish they had a K. Oh well we all evolve at some point?

honestly i could care less if i had a a3. i just plain flat out dont like it or the car its in.
and i would deffinately boost a y8, z6, JDM d15b all over the A3.
now...the a2 is a differnt story. ive seen something where these guys strapped a supercharger on an RSX-S and tuned it and it was putting 320 to the wheels on 8psi from a roots-style blower and an otherwise stock engine.

I think this issue about which one is better, faster or nicer is just plainly subjective...depends on your own personal opinion of each civic gen...
I personally DO NOT LIKE how the ride of the 5th or 6th gen civic feels!!! To me they look good BUT the ride is not at all like the 7th or 8th gen...That's the reason why I hated civics before 'til I drove a couple of 7th gens and one 8th gen...Much more solid ad I dunno feels safer, more rigid, somewhat european ride ...

whatever move honda makes, there will be people that love it and there will be people that hate it. I personally do not like the 01 to 05 styles, they look kind of big for a civic.

07-10-2006, 08:45 PM
Honestly, when people ask me what they should do first to their Civics... I say wheels, tires, and suspension.
I think the 7th gen Si's look nice with a nice suspension and a lip kit, there's a local around here who drives a pretty nice one. It's far too heavy though.
I don't like the 01-05 at all, but the 06 is a good step in the right direction IMO. Just needs to be lighter.

Just gut the interior, who needs a rear or passenger seat or sound dampining. Thats got to save some weight off the 06's.
