Also the slowest uk 00 wrx hits 0-60 a second quicker than a ctr and the fastest ones are 2 seconds quicker to 60 mph. Turbo lag is not really an issue on a wrx as its intercooler is mounted on top of the engine to minimise it.

not to mention how much horsepower does the nonspooling honda turbo make? And the WRX turbo? I bet the torque from the WRX probably would have the ctr..

I give this topic starter a pulitzer award.

well...the WRX only has 27hp over the CTR...and a good 350lbs..but its 4wd and has .4 liters per cylinder on the CTR and a good 25 ft-lbs. of tq. which...for four bangers and the weight...is a LOT more spread than the HP thats about the same.

Right...I dont want to be scarering away any new guys from the uk so I will just say this, If it was an old mk1 scooby then its doo-able, if its a mk2 then doubtful, if its mk3 or mk4 then forget about it. Plus driver skill level either way.

Let us not forget that, 0-60 times, 1/4 miles and hp (to a certin extent) mean nothing when your already moving. Its a fact in stock form an EJ20 powered WRX is a little slow from a roll on. I remember when i had my 2004 base WRX when it was stock, i could barely shake off a Sentra SER SpecV from a roll.

The gearing, lack of TQ and AWD drivtrain loss equals a rather slow time to build up power, especially if you select the wrong gear. and turbo lag is a HUGE issue on the WRX, just because the piping is shorter doesnt mean it necessarily has less turbo lag. Afterall even the WRX rally car has a FMIC. the top mount is there mainly to be different, and to show some extra rally influence from keeping it off the ground. It runs extremely hot being mounted on top of the engine as well, making intercooler sprayers a necessity.

Im sure the CTR is geared better, and we arent even sure if this guy missed a shift, or doesnt really know how to drive that well. There are too many variables to say that its complete bullsh t.

I dont know how much HP a type R puts to the ground, but I can tell you my base model 04 WRX when i had it made 164whp.

The WRX probably wasn't racing him, and was just trying to pass the van.

It depends on the driver too, it's not just about facts.. and from the looks of it between the two cars.. there isnt a huge gap difference.. so I don't think it's bs.

hm...drivers race. theyre both low 15 second cars. im pretty sure the WRX is faster at the drag strip by a tenth or two.

edit: upon further reeding...i have to call bs. its possible...but from your story it sounds like a lie or you are extremely ignorant. vtec kicked in at the right moment because his turbo was lagging? what the **** ever man. vtec kicks in at 5500. a wrx hits full boost between 3000 and 3500 at WOT. ive driven one. id know. hed hit full boost long before you hit vtec and youd be seeing tails on that logic.

Yes both cars are below 15 and the WRX would have beat me in a drag as it 4WD. Thats a given and i accept that!

But I'm sorry to say no it aint bull and for future referance Vtec kicks in at 5800RPM on a type R.

The WRX was a mk1 with as far as could see and hear had a backbox and dump valve.

The mk1 WRX is comon over here and I was out for playing football(soccer) last night and seen about 7 in a HOUR!! They have all been thrashed and not looked after so therefore the turbo's on them are F*CKED!!

I dont not if turbo lag was a big factor or what but all's i know is that I was giving the CTR a work out when a Impreza tryed to join in on a rolling start and was left behind. FACT!!

what ever the hell a SRT4 is bring it on!!!!! (we dont have them)

Remember that awd cars only pull hard off the line in the first 2-3 gears after that they won't do that much...
