Has anyone from MD done an engine swap in their car, Civic or otherwise? Right now I'm in GA (Fort Stewart to be precise) and trying to plan an engine swap (prolly w/i the next 4-6 months depending on the engine. Although I won't be getting out of the Army and going back to MD until Jan. of 2008, I'm trying to find this out before I commit to this upgrade path. Basically, my question concerns emissions laws. MD's MVA website isn't very helpful on this front, so I figgured I'd come here and try to get some info. I did some research, but I could be wrong.....swaps are "legal" as long as they're from the same year or newer car, and the OBD remains the same or newer. I was looking at the B16B from the JDM CTR, but I think that's OBD1, which wouldn't be a prob in GA (at least in Liberty County, where the car is currently reg'd), but if Maryland has emissions testing and such....well, you can see where the problem is. Having to stay OBD2 would limit my options, if in fact that thing about swaps being "legal" is true. I love my car to death (1998 Civic EX coupe / 5 spd. tranny) and would like to get a swap, rather than going with the Performer X turbo kit (my only other real option, aside from buying a 99 or 00 SI or something). Any info would be *GREATLY * appreciated. Thanks.
