The 90+ Z is supposed to have 285hp stock...

If it was the Z twin turbo version, chances were:

1-the other driver does not know how to race
2-the Z was in bad shape
3-the other driver was not racing
4-you were dreaming
5-you should start some REAL racing at a strip for the safety of yourself and others

I think your numbers are off slightly. The Twin Turbo 300zx makes 320hp the N/A 3.0 300zx makes roughly 222hp.

The NA 300's are slow as balls, I toasted them all the time in my civic sedan.

There is a Z forum that all guys there state that it has 285@ the wheels...
And, yes our guy was prolly racing an NA...it is SLOW!

Back when I was young and dumb, I raced a friend of mine in an NA with my Blazer three times in one night and he only beat me by 1/2 a car everytime...

Just read his subject line. His car is an auto and the Z is a manual.

Guess, his Z was beat up and he didn't know how to drive a manual. To be honest, if I had his car with a manual up against a stock Civic with auto tranny, I would beat the Civic easily. That is, if there was nothing wrong with the engine on the Z.
