The CTR is a different car. It has a K20A as where the SI has the K20A3. Makes about 50 more hp. Also the Type R comes with a 6 speed tranny and the Si has a 5. Same body but different drivetain and suspension components.

...you guys do realize that the CTR is just a dressed-up USDM 7G SI right?

Its not man, the 7G Si only has the 160hp k20a3 while the type r has the 200hp a2 (the Jdm k20a is 220hp)

No, America dont have a typer, only the si which is the worst si ever. The 8G 2006 Si has the better 200 hp K20Z3.

No it doesn´t mean they suck ass. They just follow a different philosophy. The Si is a fast comfortable car while the Type R has absoluteley no comfort ( no air co, no radio, etc. ). It only has what it takes to drive fast. It´s loud, it´s hard and it can make you get rid of your license just like that. Maybe that´s why Honda doesn´t sell it in the US.

I dont think Honda thinks there is a big enough market out here for a high performance hatch. The GTi is a nice car, but it doesnt sell with the kind of numbers Honda would want to encourage them to bring the Type R to america. I guess we will have to wait and see how the Mazdaspeed3 fairs in the USDM and the Caliber SRT-4 (although im hoping for a sedan version of the Caliber) If these 2 cars do well, I could see Honda maybe upping the stakes if Toyota gets involved.

Another thing you have to consider in America a car is stolen about every 8 seconds, and anyone who owns a Civic knows the insurance rates, well add hardcore performance to a Civic and your going to get some serious insurance rates. Espeically with the target demographic the Type R would influence (18-30 year old males)

Ok. Got the point. It´s almost the same situation over here exept the fact that the german honda market is a lot smaller than the us market. Think it´s only 2% of ll new registered cars. So the only people buying a Type R are some crazy people like me. That´s why even though we don´t have a general speed limit on the autobahn you have a better chance to see a ferrari ( my boss just got his 7th ) than a Type R. I think Honda only sells it on the german market for image reasons. Small powerful cars are still popular here despite of rising fuel prices. It´s about 6.4 dollar per gallon right now. (prices rise during vacation time)
