Default CTR - Whats it capable of?

Hi All,

I'm new here and just on the verge of buying a CTR, I'm just wondering what sort of cars (in the UK) they are capable of beating, both from standing starts and on the motorway... I know the obvious small engine ones like a 1ltr corsa but I'm wondering about BMW's, Clio 172/182's, Pug 206 gti, leon cupra r, focus ST170 / RS/ST etc....

I have test drove a type R, but in bad weather so was reluctant to give it a good thrashing, going to arrange another one soon though.

I'm currently driving a 2.2ltr 150 BHP Vectra so I'm guessing I'll notice a huge difference in the speed anyway!

Thanks in advance,

Ross.

Welcome, it will thrash all of the above easily, you will have to rev it a lot to get the best out of it, thats why some people in the uk are turned off by them.
Its the king of the hot hatches make no mistake, and the current ones are 5 years old now. even the new vxr, gti, and focus st cant keep up round a track. You may want to wait till the new type-r comes out as that really will be untochable. Glad your seeing the light and geeting rid of that vauxhall POS. you wont regret it.

Thanks for the quick reply, Glad to hear it should cope with most of the cars I mentioned, like you say I'm not sure whether to wait for the NEW CTR, whens is due for release? Not too sure on the look/shape though, guess even if I wait it'll mean when the new one comes out the older ones wil be alot cheaper? Looking at an 05, no older.

Thanks again for the quick reply!!

They will be out at the end of the year I hope and should cost around 16/17k. it will also be lighter and more powerful than the previous one. i would get to a dealer and put the money down on it if I was you. heres a pic.

CTR
Bought it in ´04. Never gonna sell it.
It´s not even worth thinking about racing the cars you´ve mentioned. Try a Porsche Boxster or all these 250 km/h-speed-limited-BMW´s, Audi´s and so on. Tey´ll be crying after you´ve pulled away.

No it´s not. The Type R is totally different. (engine, transmission, weight and so on)

The CTR is a different car. It has a K20A as where the SI has the K20A3. Makes about 50 more hp. Also the Type R comes with a 6 speed tranny and the Si has a 5. Same body but different drivetain and suspension components.
