how deep is the scratch? I'm not sure but you could try Nufinish or another brand of scratch remover

if the scratch is not real deap that means that it is just in the clear coat, a suggestion that i have would be to skip the scratch removers for this and run it by a body shop, the scratch removers only work if it very mild it will not take a scratch out of this type it is too deap for those, but a body shop will be able to run a buffer down it and will most likley only charge 50 or 60 bucks, you could spend that on the scratch removers and still not get anywhere, if you can feel it with your fingernail then it is to deep for the scratch removers (general rule of thumb)

if there is anyone looking for a tsunami front bumper for a 99-00 civic i have one ($200.00) learned a hard lesson the front is different from 96-98 and it don't fit my car. my loss[:@]

If it's just a white line you should be able to remove it with Meg's scratch X or something like that. If it's deeper then you will need something more aggressive like Meguiar's diamond cut. Ideal would be a wool pad, some diamond cut, and a vairable speed DA polisher for quick removal. If you don't have those just try something like 3M perfect it III from Napa Auto Parts and a microfiber towel. Rub in the direction of the scratch, back and forth not up and down, or you will create an even worse situation.

it all depends how deep it is..try all that stuff^ but personally i dont think you will be able to get it out, i have a nice scratch on the side of my car when i bought it..i brought it to a body shop and they used this bottle of stuff that like $60 for a small bottle and the public cant buy it, only body shops, it took out some of the scratch but not the entire thing, alot of it is still there and its not to deep (btw i no the guy so i just bought him a pack of smokes for him doing it), if you run your finger nail across the scratch and your fingernail gets stuck in the scratch, then its to deep...save up, bring it to a body shop, get it sanded down and repaint it..its the only way to truly get rid of it

RIDICULOUS!! i just want something to get it so its not too noticeable.

A white line and a scratch deep enough for your fingernail are two different beasts. You will definitely have to repaint. Compounding may help diminish its appearance (if its not down to the metal) but it won't remove it completely. Only other alternative would be touch up paint, but it will only serve as a temp fix until you can get it repainted. I've repaired short scratches with touch up paint and wetsanding where they are not noticeable, but a scratch all the way down the side of your car I would just pay to repaint. Check some other body shops and try to get a better price.

Got any pics of it?

if your fingernail gets stuck in it i would also suggest repainting, i would also check into several auto body shops and sometimes they will compete against eachother and give a better price. 450.00 sounds way to much. sorry about the damage that idiot did they just don't understand how much people care for their cars or the price it is to fix the damage over something so stupid (jealousy).[:@]
