well heres what u can break this thread down to........brand new SRT4 will cost u say 20,000........and insurance will be high.

OR....................buy a 92-95 hatch or coupe with a blown motor....for say 2500$......get a K20 swap with a 6 SPEED tranny for 5,000.....and boost it for another 3,000 (for a good ass turbo setup.) Insurance will be cheap.....considering ur insuring a 1.6 liter Honda............so with the civic ur going to have a car that will have under 35,000 miles on it.....a 6 speed tranny........and um yea it will run low 11's. total price------------10,500........so almost half the price of the neon.....and nowhere near as ugly.....Se7en has a boosted (lol had) k20 in a 7th gen civic....runnin 11.7 in the 1/4.......so imagine what his setup would run in a hatch?............

so ud pay 20,000 for a 13 second neon?> or 10,500 for a 11 second civic?.........even if u had everything professionally installed......it would still be cheaper than the neon.

Bottom line..............F#CK dodge (unless its a stealth TT or viper)

Unfair to compare stock to modified cars. Aftermarket parts are better. You can get a used SRT-4 and put a Mopar(ts) stage whatever and have a dang fast car for under 20 k and very near your 10k. On top of that it wont be a 10 year old car. Plus if you insure your civic as a civic with a stock 1.6 motor and it get stolen (I know I know, civics never get stolen) your insurance company will give you money for another 92-95 civic with a 1.6 motor. Now your out 8k and have to drop another 8k and now nearing the 20k you were trying to stay under.

oh yeah...................F#CK the viper, cmon 20 valves??????? We have this thing called technology. VW 4 cylinders have as many valves.

You can quote me all u want...but even if u found a used SRT4 it would cost over 20K to make it run 11's..........bedies id take a 10 yr odl civic over a new SRT4 anyday (im refering to the one with the boosted k20)...............neons are fricken ugly.......mopar could make an SRT4 faster but its goin to cost u over 20K..........invest that money on the K20 and it will rape the srt4

Only around $1,400 or so. Paul bought me the block (as he should have).

EDIT- Jeez, I've put so much money into it, $1,400 doesn't seem like alot.

Honestly, I didn't buy it with the intention of going fast. I wanted a decent daily driver for college. I liked the body style and I wanted something with lower miles than my 94 Accord. I also wanted a manual and a sunroof. I found it for a good deal with only 33,xxx miles. Bought it a day later for $10,750. It was my favorite color and was well taken care of. An older couple owned it and no longer needed it (too many cars). Only problems we're two dents in the hood and a scrape on the bumper. A few weeks later, I rode in my friends Talon TSi (you've already seen the transmission pictures lol) and the speed bug bit...HARD. I decided to find a K20 and drop it in. Boost came later and you guys know the story from there.
