280 hp 1995 DX. Help!

This is going to be tricky. First off, I want to bolt a (5spd) to a 95 DX, but I don't know what will fit. Now here's the main catchers:

It needs to be able to take 280 hp all day long.
AND, I really want to get a tall final gear in it. I hate the way that these things are geared, (3600 rpms @ 74 mph). I'd like to be around 2500 rpms, but at this point, anything helps.

I'm wondering if the transmission from a Prelude or even better, an Acura TL, fits this engine at all. Please help me, I'm an idiot.

It's a D15B7. Internals not stock, but the outside dimensions will remain the same.

The only way you're gonna get rpms that low is by changing to a longer final drive. The lowest fifth gear I know of for a D-series is .694 out of a 88-91 HF, and yours is .702, so not much difference there. You might be able to find lower in sub 88 civics, but I've yet to find specs for back that far. (Haven't looked too much tho.)

get a d15b8 tranny, i know my fifth gear cruising at 70mph is just about 2100 rpms

That's because you have a low final drive. Your fifth is still .702.

um were geared that way due to honda engines lacking power(tq). being that your d-series you really have no options for freeway rpms other than either custom of an hf 5th. there are no transmission adapters that i am aware of that lets us d-series guys use any other transmission than d-series. but if a final drive swap is what you are after look into the cx 3.25 final or the dx/lx 4.058 final. but with the cx final you will very noticably kill your acceleration. imo learn to live with the higher rpm freeway riding and dont ever ever if you go bseries go with a b16 tranny, you will absolutly hate those freeway rpms. my j1 cable tranny was at damn near 5k at 80mph

I can verify that it sucks driving on the highway with a b16 tranny. and ya, if you like cruising at over 80 it really sucks because the vtec is engages and you get some horrible mileage.
