Default short throw question

ok i got a b&m short throw off my buddy for free. so i went to install it today and i realized that the hole at the bottem where the linkage connects is more open than my stock. now on other aftermarket shifters ive seen they have bearings in the spot that mine dosnt. any help on what to do? he gave me a bunch of bushings but the bolt wont sit right in it. do i push the stuff out of my old shifter or what? any help would work.
