definatly a D16Y8 SOHC V-TEC i got the same in my car

Guys, this wasn't a question!!! This was a "how-to" by MXS to help people figure it out.

And p.s. Jameson, they are spelled VTEC (no H) and Solenoid (not solinode)

i have a 1993 honda civic dx and i want to know where to find mine my motor is a d15b7 and i dont know if its a vtec or not wheres my plate located?

10x baker.. forgot to mention..its an oldie: 95 1.6i el hatchback..can't find anything in the web..is that some english ****? its the same shape like rover...

if the code on the engine block is d16y8, it has vtec... look for the little green vtec solenoid as shown in this thread

its actually vtec, you can tell by the vtec solinode and having the spark plugs in front. all D15-D16 SOHC engines with Vtec have there spark plugs located on the front of the valve cover, and like i said before just look behind it for the **** solinode,




all SOHC D series motors have their spark plugs in the front
