Well, check into the Nittos... as for the Falkens, I had them on my old bimmer and they were awesome. Expensive but worth it.

Here are some pics:

"approved" for auto-x? you can race autocross with any tire that isnt about to explode, they dont have to be approved. Anyway, the Azenis is a bad ass tire. but yeah, the wet traction sucks. bad. right now ive got the dunlop fm901s. what a sweet tire. i would highly recommend it for auto-x, drag, or street. warning though, its really soft rubber, so make sure you dont have any alignment issues first. i had bad negative camber on the back of my civic and it killed the inside edges in like 1000 miles. my wife has the same tires on her 01 'Rolla and w/o any alignment issues it doesnt show any wear at all after like 1500+ miles.

i prefer the 16s. go with (i hope our tire sizes run the same as yours.) 205/45/16 or maybe 215/40/16 tires. unless looks is more important than performance, dont go over 17", though 16s are better than 17s unless you have big brakes and you cant fit 16s.

Nitto makes a good tire for the money. If traction from a dig is your main concern, you can run drag radials on the street. Just don't expect to get much life out of them.

When it comes to Kuhmo's, it really depends on the particular tire. I know a number of people that have been really pleased with the Ecsta 712s. I run Ecsta V700 "R" compound tires on my track car. Unbelievable amounts of grip, I am very happy with them so far. NOT a streetable tire though.

*edit* Note that there are two types of Falken Azenis. The Falken Azenis "Sport" is the closest thing to a race compound tire you can buy for street use. (lots of race tires are DOT approved, but you would be foolish to run them on the street due to horrible treadlife, and poor wet performance) I know of a number of folks that have been very happy with these tires as well.

ShiviSchuey, do you have any experience with Avons? They just recently started importing them to the US. Initial reports look favorable. Personally I am most interested in the Tech R's which are their track tire. Any feedback you may have would be appreciated.
