Default Fast and Furious prop car vs GN

Well, it finally happened. During my weekly exercise run of my Buick, some dude pulls up in heavy afternoon traffic in a very modded (graphically and audibly anyway) little rocket car. He was certainly trying to get my attention for sure. This stretch of road has three traffic lights within 1000 ft. You can see them all. That time of day, no way you can make it through all lights without hitting one or more red. So this guy, revving away at the first light takes off like a mad man only to get stuck at the next light. I roll on up and have to wait 30-45 sec for the green. Again he takes off and again he stuck at the third light. I'm laughing my ass off at this point. Finally, we "line up" at the last light with only a long uphill straight away ahead of us. I looked over at Mr Rev man and didn't appreciate the look. Initially, I let the punk ass take off. I haven't punched my GN in a real long time especially since the new 295's in back. So against my better judgement, and proving nothing I didn't already know, I did the equivalent of one of those "rollon" races that I read about all the time. At about 35mph, with F&F about 2 cars up, I went for it. After almost 20 years, I know my vehicle pretty well as far as what's going to happen. Sure enough, just about at the other guy's doors, the turbo kicked in at the same time my AT shifted into 2nd, which produced a giant chirp and an instant 3-4 car lengths. At the end of this straight away, I have to bang a right so I slowed down just in time for the expected "flyby" portion of the "race" . What did it prove? Nothing except my tires don't spin like crazy anymore in that situation instead just hooking up and accelerating even harder.

It was fun. I admit it.

I'm curious, how do you route the hot piping on a "V" style engine for a turbo?

To be honest, I've only had experience with turbos on inline engines... it seems like running hot piping from both sides of the engine into one turbo would be difficult...

Only running a single turbo setup on my GN, the drivers side exhaust header is connected to a cross-over pipe. From there it meets up with the passenger side and then into a dump pipe ( down pipe).

The stock crossover necks down to under 2" in some spots for clearance. Also, the stock downpipe is equally restrictive. I opted for a 2.5" stainless x-over pipe and a 3" stainless downpipe that dumps into a 3" in/out hi flo stainless cat and run 3 " ATR stainless from there into Flowmaster Delta 40's.

With nothing else changed, the throttle response was improved tremendously. Getting rid of the dual crossover muffler hiding beyond the rear axles didn't hurt either. Cruising at 55mph( 1500rpm ) has a slight rumbly drone resonance. I know when I'm obeying the speed limit by sound at least !

I didn't do the "flyby". I was slowing down to make a right turn and the dude in the heavily graphic laden car provided the "flyby" portion. I guess that made him the "winner" !

Sounds a lot like a fly-by to me. Roll races start with the cars even.

The F&F car took off on me at the light from a stop. I goosed it and blew his doors off in the process and then shut down to make a right turn. My definition of a "flyby", maybe in error, is making up the car lengths lost in a "race", rollon or from a dead stop ( real race ) , and then attempting to pass the otherwise unpassable opponent. This guy was so far out of my league, I wouldn't even entertain lining up for any kind of race, especially on the street during heavy traffic ( or otherwise ) .

So, did I "flyby" him? Absolutely! Was it the perverbial "ricer flyby"? Not by my definition because you have to lose first to pull that off.
Right? Who knows? I've been a licensed driver for 34 years. This shizzle is new to me!

I wasn't technically racing him, however, he was on it BIG TIME . The sounds from his fart can gave that away. I think the look he gave me at the third light was the givaway for me. It was just something that had to be done. He wound the snot out of his ride and I goosed mine a bit to educate him if you will. No one finger salutes were traded so it's all good for now. Maybe I gave him a story to tell his buds but to quote you guys on this site, "He got his ass handed to him". Again, no surprises for me and probably for him unless he likes kidding himself.
