Homemade D kits
So based on the other threads i've decided to go with the turbo D series, i have a 2000 DX d16Y7 i believe, where do i start? which turbo do i pick up? what intercooler etc? i've never built a home made kit and i think i can make more power with homemade than a greddy kit or anything of the sort. so list it off

RE: Homemade D kits
Run a search man, lots and lots of people have been asking these same questions lately. Start with Pete's Turbo Grocery List in the DIY Section. Turbo'ing a car is not an easy task, I don't care what anyone says. You have got to have the knowledge of how/why a turbo works, what exactly goes into a full turbo system, and what the limitations of your stock motor are. Precautionary (is that a word?) steps should also be taken, such as a compression and leakdown test, before you even think of putting a turbo in your engine bay. Good luck, you've got a lot of reading ahead of you :)

First things first - get a Y8 or a Z6 intake manifold. After that start reading up on turbos and asking questions.

As a UTI student i understand leakdown tests etc and how the turbo works, i'm mainly asking what differences in the turbo's are i'm not familiar with japans turbos the IHIs i was just wondering what turbo would be beneficial such as a T3/T4?

RE: Homemade D kits
Good stuff i read Pete's list and compiled a group of items i'm going to buy for the kit, i'm going with a Garret T25 off a 97 turbo Eclipse, cast manifold, 2.5' intercooler piping with a 30' long intercooler 12' tall and 3' wide. Hallmen Red manual boost controller, same oil line kit as he recommended and basically just stuck to his list. I didnt know i could save so much money by doing a homemade kit! oh btw i'm bidding on a Z6 intake manifold too off a 95 civic, i hope thats what you guys were talking about.
EDIT>> one thing i did buy extra however was a Wallbro 255Lph fuel pump |
RE: Homemade D kits
