Default 3rd gear grind?

hey guys i think i got a problem with my tranny. when i shift at low rpms into 3rd gear its fine but once i get the revs up and switch to 3rd it has just a little grind. i just bought a rebuild kit and bushings for the shifter cause it is extremely sloppy. so could it be that? or is my tranny ****ed? and how much $ am i looking to fix it? and can i still drive it like that?

it's a syncro sleeve. I drove my 84 with that for quite a few thousand miles before I got a chance to open the tranny

cycnros are what mesh the gears together. so replace those and she should shift like butter unless something is bad

yes, it is there. no, it is not easy install. you have to remove and completely disassemble your tranny if you are asking this question, you are better of getting it replaced for you

before you go out and tear the tranny apart look into the easy stuff.....bad shifter bushings can cause it, bad motor mounts can cause it, low or bad oil can cause it. if all these fail then be prepared to have the tranny pulled apart.

since this is third gear, I'm pretty much sure it's a syncro. I believe it's a known problem for civics. but really a good idea to try easier and cheaper things first, agree 100%.
