Default SCCA autocross houston regional event #11

Yeah! I went to my first autocross event to watch my bud race...end it racing too. I ran 4 times, hit 1 cone @ the first time.
Subaru team record was 54 second. my best shot wt my stock civic is 71 sec clean.
I was in class STX <<<someone xplain to class letter for me plz!
What should I upgrade to get better in autocrossing?
thanks guys1

Driver skill. Lots of practice. Help from your instructors. Novice school if they offer it in your region.

STX stands for Street Touring Xtreme which u most def. should not have been in, esp. if ur stock. if u dont have any performance/suspension mods then make sure u register in the right class next time. as far as mods, well it dosnt really matter tooo much. if u want, u could just keep racing in stock class and do well in there. most ppl would go with suspension mods and light performance mods(i/h/e) and that would stick u in STS class. little more competitive than stock...might also want to get smaller wheels and grippier tires. if i were u i'd just get some wheels/tires legal for stock class and stay in there till i got alot better and learned more. then later on once ur better, get a better suspension setup and move to STS. but thats just wut i'd do...

Autocross is AWESOME!
I will do some suspension upgrade when spring comes (scholarship and grants from school come in)
I dont want to use he yellow wheels and tires to autocross. Can i use the steelies? with 14inch tires? I have a set of four sitting in my garage!
The registering guys put me in STX. my first time so i did not know what the hell was that. Next time I ll be in STS!!!

you're in STS. Register for that next time if there's no Novice class.

buy some Falken Azenis for your steelies.
