Shocks are a part of suspension. The function of shocks is to dampen suspension movements.
Strut is one of the kinds of suspensions.

Default RE: shocks/struts question

they are basically the same, but in different applications. most hondas up to 00-01 have a double wishbone suspension, and the shock is used to control the bounce of the springs. in a strut suspension system, such as a macpherson strut on a newer honda (and most other cars nowadays) the strut does that, but also its part of the structure of the suspension. it controls movement of other suspension pieces in other directions than up and down.

hope this helps.
