I have a stock h22 and if i am going to boost it i want to build the kit myself and try to install it myself aswell. Is there anything extremely difficult? I think the hardest thing for me to install would probably be the oil lines and the tap into the oil pan...I would take it to a local shop to be tuned, but I think that i could install it myself. What are your thoughts? Also, H22 have the reputation to not like boost. But 6-8psi should be fine right? Plus being at college i only drive my car on the weekends.

It really depends on your skills and experience in working with cars. Also, the biggest thing you can do to help yourself is RESEARCH. Study your ass off before even considering dropping a turbo into your bay.

But really installing the turbo, header, downpipe, intercooler, and piping should be fairly easy...I quess i am more worried about the oil lines and fuel system changes. I was looking a Blox FMU and hold a 12:1...now that is the air/fuel mixture right? Is that a good ratio??

that fmu would get you buy for now but your injectors are going to hate you when you hit boost. dont see why 5-8psi wont hurt. just do either a leakdown test or compression test
i would ditch the fmu, those are just bad news. my buddy has one and his car is just all messed up. i would go with a chipped ecu and run crome on it. you would have to get bigger injectors, but you can pick up some dsm blue tops with a restrictor box for like 70 bucks, so its worth it in the long run. i would also agree with forty about the RESEARCH part, everyone on here that has a turbo did research and research before they thought about dropping in a turbo.
Yes....research is, like, SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO necessary. Prior to installing my kit, my biggest project was my intake manifold installation. But I did have the Performer X kit, which is pretty much straight bolt-on, and the directions that came with it were pretty much dummy-proof. But I did do a lot of research...asking questions that probably seemed stupid to a lot of people But if you don't feel comfortable seeing the guts of your car, it definitely ain't for you. When I dropped the oil pan to drill it and saw the crankshaft, rods, and such...it's was a very strange feeling, like knowing someone for a long time and the having their rib cage opened up and seeing their guts. Sorry...umm.....RESEARCH ad nauseam!!!
