Default My Civic VS. an EVO

That's right! Here's the story. If anyone knows the New York State Thruway in Rockland County, you'll like this one.

So I was leaving a mall goin to my friend's apartment about 20 minutes down the thruway (from West Nyack, NY to Hillburn, NY). I just got on and I spot an EVO behind me. He starts to pass, but I accelerate next to the guy just to check out his car. He's got NJ plates, so right off the bat I didn't like him (Sorry NJ people... it's a southern NY thing. You're all cool, I just don't like your state). He glances over and passes in front of me. I follow him weaving through a few cars goin about 85. Then I notice an opening of no cars in front of us. I know what he's thinking, "I'm in an EVO, I'm gonna toast this Civic in the dust. He's got nothin on me." Because a bunch of my friends play with me all the time... they have hooked up RSX's and one with a STI. So before this guy took off, I downshifted just before he did. He waved at me through his sun roof (what an ***!). The early downshift got me to stay close. It's a 3-lane highway, and from the middle lane we were in, he broke left, I broke right. We weaved through a bunch of cars pretty closely, probably going 95/100 by now. At this point, I saw a break in the middle lane that he couldn't get to from the left, so I jumped in, blocked him out, opened my sunroof, waved to return the favor, and then sped off. That was the last I saw of the guy, and it was probably the only time in my life I'll beat one of those things. It was awesome.

You have a non turbo EX and you kept up with an EVO... right...
...and street racing at 100 mph (or at any speed for that matter) on the highway with other cars on the road is just plain STUPID!!! [:@]

Well, to each his/her own. I know very well that an EVO would make mince meat out of my Civic any day on a drag. The whole thing was that I out-drove the guy through quick traffic analyzation. The thruway is pretty populated with cars, it's 65mph limit, and it's New York. It was definitely one of my favorite rides though, so I figured I'd post about it.

Which is why you shouldnt of been racing...

To bad those pics of that girl that hit the tollway were taken down, you could see what happens to people when they speed 100+ mph.

yeah, i can agree with that. "beat" is a pretty loose term. i mean, you'll never catch me saying my car is fast in this forum because i know it's not, i just like how in racing it's not all about speed.

Damn, I sure did a good job covering that one up. Whew! Just don't tell anyone else, okay?

No, seriously.. I don't mean to be a jerk. I would never drive in a situation where I felt uncomfortable with what I was doing.
