it wows me to hear people brag about mid 15 second quarter mile times and 172bhp...a friend of mine has a 03 tibby, and its been a world of problems...stupid things like the exhaust manifold cracking, the sunroof gearing breaking, and the door handles cracking.  also, from what ive seen, a stock tibby GT with a slushbox is only good for low 16s.

yes, the tibby can be modded to be fast, but thats true of anything.

and its true that only a car or two can be manufactured worng or badly period! just cause you hear bout one or two or even twenty of them, it doesnt mean there all trash. not everyone hear is braggin bout it bein a mid 15 sec. car. its a nice n well equipped car! and what it was built to do is nice because of the fact of what it wasnt before! form 16-17 second car to now a mid 15 second car! with more horses n torque and able to hold a lot more on stock internals. not tryin to justify what your friends problem is or is having, not all of the tiburons are badly equipped. think about some the hondas and even toyotas; that have those problems to but no1 makes it a big deal! but its cool i do hear what u tryin to say but not all are like that!

i suppose...i agree that every car has a crappy unit put out once in a while, shy of maybe the high end europeans...ive worked as a mechanic, and as low end imports go, it seemed that the hyundais were more problematic.  i also run a hyundai forum, which isnt very busy, and while i know that there are fast tibbys out there, the performance money spent could go much further elsewhere.

i wouldnt buy one based on the problems that he has had.  not only that, but he has dealt with two dealers over the warranty issues, and while he has the 100,000 mile warranty, they jerk him around.  he went in because the drivers door inside handle broke, and when he took it in, they told him to keep driving it, and they would let him know when they got one in.  they said "its on backorder".  i worked for a different dealership, and i called...told them that i had an 02 tibby, needed a drivers inner door handle assembly...they said they had three in stock. i then told them about my friend.  they hung up,and called him.  it was a miracle.

yea i do i agree that at most times they do jerk you for that warranty crap! i know my friend has a brand new nissan altima, well "06", and he had problems with the sunroof and they practically said the same thing! a few days later they tried bulls*** him and say that it couldn't fall under the warranty! mostly cause he passed the miles. dont know what the miles had to do with anything but w/e! but yea i mean hyundai, as i said before, has come a long way from what they used to be. they are a good car. but not all have those problems. and even then its usually small interior crap. but yea i guess you right with your boys tibby. oh and yea in a way with money for performance is somewhat true. but also its what the person likes and is into. me personally wouldnt mind spending money on one. mostly cause not everyone that has one does the things the right way and cause its different from what you see around my way, (south jersey) LMAO! boring as hell!

alright, this is something I saw with my own 2 eyes. my friend has a acura rsx with an injen intake, full exhaust system (sounds like ****) and cf hood. and we were headed to the meets down here, when a tibby pulled up next to him I guess they gave each other homoerotic looks cause I didn't even hear an engine rev. and they were off....well...the tibby pulled infront of him off the line all the way to second gear. -_- yes I was shocked. but a few days later I realized something god helped me realize....

my home boy can't shift.....
