b18c1

just bought a b18c1, type r tranny, and an ecu for 500. gonna drop it in on weds and I was wondering what I should do that'll add the most performance. I got an exhaust and an intake done. I was thinking about switching out the ignition systems first, and maybe throw on a 4-2-1 header. Then when I get soem money I'll bore out the pistons.

Wouldnt your best bet be looking into the tuning and normal everyday running before beefing up the performance? Especially if your doing a whole swap. Motor you havent ran before... you dont know whats all wrong with it yet, ya know.

The engine runs good. I bought it from a friend and he just recently crashed the car but the engine and everything is still nice. And tuning and everything is set.

You got an insane deal. I just had a JDM B18C swap done......It rips. Before you swap the motor in get a new HONDA timing belt and water pump. I would personally swap the intake mani for a Skunk2. The GSR intake manifold has the butterflies inside em and they restrict lots of power.....and its very simple to do the intake mani with the engine out of the car. It might take you 30 mins to do it, but if the motors inside the car youre lookin at 2-3 hours to do it......and some butchered hands. Definetly do an intake manifold swap, new water pump, new timing belt and get a new clutch and resurface the OEM Flywheel.......less headaces down the road.

^Yea, I wouldnt mess with it. The stuff I mentioned is going to end up getting done down the line anyway, so why not do it now when its easier.

Hmm alrighty .. My friend just mentioned some stuff about it adding better throttle response time so that's what I was goin for .. But I'll do all that stuff first ..

Hmm ... I've ran into a little problem . It turns out the tranny isn't a type r at all but its a ys1 tranny .. From what my friend is telling me its better than the type r but its a cable tranny and not hydraulic .. I asked around and I can get a hydraulic to cable conversion for about 300, but is it worth it? I'm also going to need to buy a new starter so everything should cost me around 400 .. Should I go with the the ys1 tranny, just put in my tranny from the vx, or should I buy another tranny for about the same price .. Also, is there a way around all the conversion stuff because I don't really wanna spend that much on the tranny but if I have to I will ..
