I bought a 89 Hatchback DX for five hundred bucks, High miles and the engine isnt in great shape at all.

Its got the 16 valve 1.5 litre SOHC engine

What is a really easy swap for it? What kind of replacement engines can I look for? besides the same one of course

I would like something with an easy swap, Im not up for the big modifications.

And maybe a little more hp like a DOHC or something

What do you think? Help Me

B16, B18a or c area all relatively easy if you buy the swap complete...it depends on how much you want to spend...

d16a6 found in the 88-91 crx si/ civic si/ civic ex. its a direct bolt in for you car assuming you use your current intake and exh manifolds. its one of the most popular sohc engines due to the steel main girddle caps and is well known to make more power than factory ratings in stock form.

if you are doing a d16a6 swap you will have to get the harness the motor came out of(or modify your harness), because your stock motor is the dual point injection. if you do a d series vtec swap you will need the harness, and cumputer.
d16z6  -   92-95 civic vtec
d16y8  -    96-00 civic vtec
if you want to do a b series swap you will need new motor mounts, harness, computer, axles, etc.

B18 a1 is going to be pretty cheap and an easy install. That is an integra ls motor...not as high hp as the gen 1 B16 (JDM CRX Sir)...but it has good torque and will be great if you plan on boosting...
