Default REX falling on its face!

Alright so i jsut picked up a 89 hf rex for 700 the body's decent and the interior is really nice but it has a d15b1 motor which is only 70 hp and the revline is 5500 , it has a cable trans----- my problen is when i shift hard or not the car goes from 5500 to like 3000 and has no power all over agian i was wondering if taht was becuase of the cabletranny or clucth or just cause the motor makes no power what so ever if any one knows pleasehelp me out.

hf transmission...........itll get you everytime.......swap it out in favor of at least a dx tranny. also, swap the ecu for a pm6, swap the intake manifold for a crx si manifold and swap over the crx si injectors as well........itll make a world of difference.
