Default Saving up.

I've started doing research on engine swaps and i'm looking to buy a b-series. I have a 99 civic ex coupe. I searched around on here but didn't find the exact answer I was looking for.

What I wanted to know is with me having a shop do the work (I don't want to mess it up) how much would it cost to get the car COMPLETELY RUNNING including swap and all misc parts for the swap? As in engine, ecu, brackets, all that good stuff, tuning, blah blah...

I need to have some idea so I can start saving.

Default RE: Saving up.

im in the process of my gsr swap into my 97 ex civic. heres what i have found so far...

you can find a b18c obd2 swap for around $3500 shipped. that should include motor, tranny, ecu, harness, shift linkage and axles.

then you will need new brackets from the 99-00 civic si. left engine mount 11910-p30-000 and rear tranny mount 50827-s04-n10. these will run you about $105 shipped from hondaautomotiveparts.com.

if you want to keep your a/c, you need the a/c bracket from a crv or del sol (DOHC v-tech). this bracket runs about $70 for the crv, or $105 for the del sol. either one should work. i ordered the crv bracket for my swap.

next you need motor mounts. innovative billet mounts will run you about $380, or hasport mounts will run you close to $460. im still undecided which mounts i will go with. it seems every forum has a different opinion on which ones are better. hasport has a stronger name and have been around longer. both offer lifetime warranties.

since you are buying a used motor, buy a new water pump and timing belt. these should run you about $110 together. i would also recommend swapping the clutch and flywheel out also. this will save you a lot of time and money in the future. you should be able to get these for under $500.

i would recommend if you swap your motor to upgrade your alarm system. 2-way pager alarm, back up battery, prox sensor, cop siren, steering wheel club, and clutch lock. if you dont add to your security your car will get stolen!

this should be everything you need to drop the motor in and go. you can add any mods if you want as well like headers, intake, etc. im a noob at all of this so i hope i didnt forget anything.

turn key swaps can be found at streetimports.com.

and labor hours are going to be pricey. ask your dad if he knows of any good mechanics that can help you do the swap over a weekend.

that way you can save some money, and learn how drivetrains work in the process. you appreciate things more if you get your hands dirty.

sooper dirty in this case. lol

I've assisted in a swap before, and I know these two guys who own a garage that own a rediculously fast 'teg. They helped my friend do his swap for about 500 bucks.
