it's basically a guard for the filter, whether it's foreign material of heat coming off of the engine. Kind of silly to put on a "cold air intake" and the filter is right next to the engine, and it doesn't have some kind of shroud/guard/shield.

so if i bought a shroad all i hafta do it put it over the filter and ill get even more hp gain from it?
