I have exactly $6k to spend on a car, and I want a civic pretty badly due to how many options there are to customize them. what do you all think is the best car i could get for $6k would be? could i find a 99 si with around 130k miles for that low? just trying to figure out the newest year and least amount of miles i am going to be able to afford. thanks!

no; not unless it has extensive damage, or is stolen
you could get a 96-00 EX for around that much.

It depends. I'm going to go ahead and assume you're into 6th gens (96-00). In that case, what are you looking to get out of it? Just want it for looks? Want performance also? How much performance?
You're going to get a different opinion from everyone. Me for example, I would choose a 96-98 coupe any manual trim, and build up a custom turbo D15. It would be a bit more than 6k, but it would be built in stages. On the other hand, mostpeople would probably drop in a B series with bolt ons and call it a day. It just depends on what your paticular goals are.
i guess i should clarify a bit...im a freshman in college and I need something that will handle long road trips, and it needs to last me atleast another 4-5 years. that being said, I want to buy the newest car with lowest miles possible, then over the next 2 years, build it up. basic things like wheels/tires, body kit, new suspension, etc. as far as the engine goes, ill probably end up putting a greddy turbo kit on it. it doesnt need to be the fastest car in town, but i want it to be more fun to drive. i reckon im going to start looking for a 96-00 ex, bc i like the sunroof option. also needs to be a 5 spd.
it's a good platform to start with. you should be able to find that for 6k.
