As some of you already know, I blew the turbo D yesterday. I wish that I could say I wasripping through the twisties grabbin gears, but instead, I was just switching lanes on the freeway, and casually downshifting into fourth.
What happened you may ask? I don't know yet. Until I have time to really get in there and check **** out, I won't know. All I know is that I grabbed fourth gear, eased into it, then got into it a little harder to grab some boost. The second I touched boost.....BANG! Glanced into my rear view only to see the sad sight of smoke, oil, and debris.
Onto the pics, and an explination of what I DO know so far...
When I pulled over and started checking **** out. I noticed that there was oil everywhere in the bay, never a good sign.
Looked down, and saw my oil drain line just kinda chillin..
*insert lots of screaming and obscenities here...*
I got down on one knee, looked under the car, and this is what I saw..
Remarkably, the bulk of the engine bay managed to stay pretty clean. (I'm trying to think of positives, to keep me from going insane...)
I don't really know what to say guys. I'm more depressed about it than anythign. I'm not really mad at all, just feel like I've been punched in the gut... Luckily for me, I'm married to the coolest chick to ever walk the face of the earth. While waiting for the tow truck driver to get there, Lori asked "what are you going to do?" I told her that I'd just sell everything that was worth a **** (turbo, suspension, and whatever else..) and use that money to buy a new motor. Her response damn near brought tears to my eyes. She said "No, you've worked way too hard on all of that to just up and sell it. We have money in our savings for situatoins like this, we'll get you a new motor." How ****ing cool is that?
In conclusion, most of you know damn well how my mind works. With this motor being toast, theres only one thing left to do, build something better.
Thanks for reading.
