I'm bias to the B but turbo Ds put up some impressive numbers. Check out D-series.org or Turbo D16.

how much money do you want to spend? for a low budget set up id rock the d..............thats what there for. if your willing to spend the cash the b-series engine will offer a better platform in the long run. but dont get me wrong, i am still a big d-series fanatic. you just have to love the fact that if you blew your d16 up, you can find another for less than 200.
