turbos are a little foreign to me. how does one go about increasing boost in a turbo?
and is it tough to get a turbo'd engine tuned correctly?

A good boost controller should allow you to increase or decrease the boost you want to run.

An engine that isn't designed for a turbo could be tricky to tune. I'd recomend purchasing a good engine management system.

turbos are adjusted by a boost controllers and Superchargers are adjusted by changing the pulleys...

Boost controllers that I have seen are adjusted electronically... I had one in the old civic but didnt really know alot about it. It was pretty much set and I rarely touched it.

boost adjustments on a turbo can be done 2 ways, modifying the wastegate arm(internally wastgated) or with an adjustable boost controler either electronic or manual type. and if your going to turbo ur civic i do recomend an safc/vafc and larger injectors at least for fuel managment as compared to the fmu. if you can afford it, try to get a stand alone type unit. you may however be able to find a shop with a dyno that will be able to burn you a chip for your ecu to best suit your turbo set up. ive done a few installs where we used only an fmu, it ran alright but a little leaner than i wanted it and also fuel pressure was a little jumpy.
