transmission fluid location
 
okay ive had my fifth gen civic for about 6 months now, i havent change the transmission fluid and i do not know where it is located... i looked under my hood and cannot find it.... someone told me its in the tranny anotehr person told me i dont ned to change it since im a 5spd., not sure anyone know where the transmission fluid container is located??

Look underneath, behind the wheel on the passenger side of the car. You'll see a rather large bolt at the 10oclock position on the tranny case. This is your fill hole. Fill it until it starts to dribble out. The drain hole is relatively self explanatory. Sounds remarkably like a girl once dated. Hmmmm...

wait im confused, under the hood, or under the car, also where do i put the transmission fluid into???

Sorry, kinda drunk in m hotel tonite. Dont here in Joisey for a class fo rthe FAA, wife/kids up in NH. suxk.

Anyway...not udner teh hood. Easier to access under the car. lift car on jackstands and look behind where passenger wheel woudl be, should be removed. sorry. if you arel ooking at the tranny case from straight on from the passenger side, the fill is at teh 10oclock position.

you pour it into the transmission. the filler plug is a round headed bold with a squae hole in it. you stick a 3/8' rachet extention in it to remove it. the drain plug is on the bottom of the tranny. and you pour the trans fl;uid into the filler hole with a funnel of some type, when it starts running out of the filler hole, its full. reinstall the plug and you are good to go.

i have a book that says for manualtransaxle use lubricant..... is this the same as transmission fluid becasue for the automatic transaxle it says use transmission fluid..are they the same or different

10w30 regular old motor oil. Or drain it and run synthetic, same weight.
