you need to get your timing belt done as soon as possible if you haven't gotten one before.

if the belt snaps suddenly, you're FUCT.

and it wont be cheap unless you do it yourself.

that's why i got one of deez today. WOOOHOOO!!1

I got my timing belt, all aux belts, and water pump replaced, including a drill out of 1 stuck screw in the water pump, and it ran me 250.00 at a local tuner shop, he's the best for miles though, I would trust him with any engine work.

im curious of the price from the stealership for it...

i think mine needs done as well... ive concidered buying my parts from ebay and taking them to the dealership so i can at least save on parts $$wise....
im sure i can do it myself..... BUT for something so common to dealerships... id think they could do it quickly and right...

plus then id have proof it was done.....

it takes like 3-4 hours to do a timing belt and i know our shop charges i think about 75 bucks an hour then they have to make money on all the parts

ya thats why id buy the oem parts off ebay.. and just pay the instalation fee......

ive thought about doing it myself........ my problem would just be ive never done it before..... so im sure it would take me twice as long! and now that i dont have my truck anymore i dont have a good backup vehicle :(

I bought this kit

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-97-98-99-00-HONDA-CIVIC-TIMING-BELT-KIT-OEM-GENUINE_W0QQitemZ110093032398QQihZ001QQcategoryZ33 625QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It was like 115 shipped, all parts were in perfect condition, plus the 250 install ran me 375 total. Buy a kit from them, they are a trusted group of people, and their phone customer service is also good. Kit will get to you fast, take that to the mechanic, not the stealership, that you trust in your local area.

ya thats who i bought my OEM fog lights from.... just waiting on them ;)
i was gonna buy the belts also... but someones CHEAP @SS tryen to save what 4-5bucks and bid instead of BUY IT NOW.... and im not gonna bid and wait 9days!

so ill get it eventualy.....
but if i dont take it to the stealership... id do it myself...... i dont like taking my car to any shops.... mainly cause of my stereo... i dont want those losers just siting in my car watchen a dvd or bumpen my stereo.LOL

Im guna buy the stuff and have someone pt it on, how much do you think the labor would be?

I would think 250 would be a pretty fair deal for the entire kit, because theres some work involved. Plus the coolant and all that will have to be drained, so you will be getting a fresh fillthere too. 300 would probably be pretty extreme.

My local Honda stealership quoted me $295.00 before I even mentioned that I had the timing belt, but that wouldn't include the water pump/aux belts, which you really should go ahead and upgrade.

That DCH group is pretty good too, might I add. I call them all the time now, whenever I have a question regarding parts or replacements, they are pretty smart in the parts shop, and usualy can have you an answer pretty quick, plus I am sure on that kit, if you didn't want to bid, you could just e-mail them, whomever is in charge of the ebay operations. Just tell them you want one of the kits but don't want to wait, they will quote you the buy it now price and shipping, and they can either list one for you, or just flat out sell you one.

I am sure they would do that.

ya ive emailed them already... but that was yesterday...

but one thing im curious about is... can or shoud i say WILL a dealership run your vin number for free and see what kinda maintance the car has had?
i still want to have mine done... but would jsut like to know if its been done before..

Nice thats what i was planning on doing. Are there any upgrade part that are worth doing while im doing it(better timing belts, water pumps...)?

addiction2bass

id just do the OEM belt and oem water pump.... should be good quality since its original equipment.......

only thing id see upgrading would be the pulley to a adjustable pulley... but thats all i could see upgrading... but wont be anygood unless ya do some thing else that would need to be adjustable.LOL or if ya do it yourself i think a adjustment would help just incase ya messed it up by a tooth on realigning the belt.LOL
