ahhh i get ya

What i hate is when a band releases an album, and it is absolutely amazing, then the next album is the complete oposite style of the previous, and they keep changing their style of music.... case in point Finger Eleven... The Grayest of Blue Skies was an amazing album, then their last one sucked... i am torn on wether to get their new one or not

Our lady OF peace, or Our Lady Peace?  I used to listen to them way back when

And zoso, I hardly consider "Scar Tissue" to be RHCP's "old stuff"   How old are you?

I know. I knew its wrong but thats how I just always said it. But Scar tissue is when they started to get watered down. RHCP old stuff would be like 'My friends'

in reply to zoso...

the old rhcp sang about "catholic school girls rule" "real men dont kill coyotes" not exactly deep....the music was basically hard funk bass lines and anthony sing/rapping/talking over top with helel slovak doing whattever the hell he wanted

if you listen to stadium arcadium you will find alot of deep songs...great song writting (isnt writting a catchy guitar riff what guitarists strive for??), back to old style bass lines (funk!) and deep lyrics (they just arent as obvious). it might sound irrelevant to you, but to anthony keidis it could be very meaningful. Singers use alot of symbolism and metaphors in lyrics to tell their own stories, that we cant always understand. PS you say scar tissue and what happened to the funk...do you know what funk is? because there is none in scar tissue

and is response to forty... im not questioning your musical skill or knowledge, i personally don't think kirk hammet is that great a guitar player, im more of a fan of guys like clapton, hendrix, stevie ray vaughn and john frusciante. his playing was cool back then and dont get me wrong it is still sick...but metal guitar has advanced so much in the past few years it seems to me hes been left in the dust by some unreal players. but thats besides the point... in regards to trance i agree, learning to be a great guitar player is much harder than learning how to make trance. But other styles like electronica and the more organic styles of computer based music are very difficult and you need a strong musical backround to be able to write every part of a song.

and yes, iv recorded alot of music (every penny iv ever made has gone into my studio downstairs which is completely soundproofed, which includes yamaha stage custom drums, full peavey pa, an american strat, takemene and yamaha acoustics,a crate effects amp ,fender jazz bass, roland keyboard, bell piano ,korg synth, macbook loaded with alot of software, behringer mixer recorder ,korg midi controller, and 9 mics of all sorts)...

i have alot of originals ranging from nickleback style rock, to synth rock ,to accoustic folk rock, to electronica/breakbeat recently , never even played a cover in front of an audience before. Iv won 4 battle of the band type shows and am just getting into the bar gig scene. trust me iv played and recorded alot of music.

The only type of music that i really enjoy is something that puts you in the mood to drive fast and fight someone. I really don't like the type of music that makes you chill.

please....say no more

And I never said Hammett was god, I simply used him as an example because the rest of the guitar players i know of, most others have probably never heard of.  And do you know the what the main reason is as to why these newer guitar players seem faster than Hammett?  It's because Hammett has never resorted to alternate picking...ever

The rest of the guitar players you named are on my altime favorites list, but its apples to oranges as far as them vs. metal guitarists.

...now I'm just babbling, I'll stfu
