I am getting a new intake(AEM) I want a short ram or cold air, what one. I have had a short ram, but never a cold air. Kinda worried about da rain. What have you guys seen with your own intakes, good and bad?

don't be worried about rain. nor floods... unless they're above 2 feet. you HAVE to have your filter COMPLETELY submerged in order to hydrolock your car.  also, the cai and sri are both equal in performance.  the cai might have like .0005 HP more than the sri because it supposedly offers cooler air. however, because the air is pulled in from so far down, by the time it gets to the engine, it'll have passed through the part of the tube that is warm due to the engine's radiating heat and it'll no longer be as "cold" as it used to be... sri and cai are completely equal. read the intake faq for more info.

I have done a lot of reading on this subject and there is virtually no difference in peak Hp gain between a cai and a sri of similar diameter. There is a little mid-range hump in the dyno curve with the cai, but probably imperceptable on the street.

If I didn't care about money I would get a password jdm powerchamber or the Comptech Icebox. Next step would be a V2 or a Weapon-R Secret Weapon. Or if you are strapped for cash, go with a knock off and put a K&N on it.

There is no need to be afraid of water as long as you have splash guard and inner wheel well cover then you should be fine.  By pass valve are also over rated.
