Is the cold air intake TUBE really necessary??

I installed a K&N cone air filter but havent installed the shiny cold air intake tube and am still using the OEM black plastic tube. Does the shiny chrome tube make a difference??

It won't transfer as much heat to the air moving through the intake, so it will make a difference, if only a minimal one.

it depends where you live and what kind of weather there is because down here in florida is no cold air just heat. so there point. but if you up north its better to have cold air intakes.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the aftermarket tubes (at least the good ones) are designed to facilitate a higher volume of airflow into the manny, so you should change it.

My intake tube is 3 inches in diameter.. and the plastic OEM tube will just restrict airflow... it has many cracks and spaces that the air can get trapped in... GET A "SHINY TUBE"

I like to refer shiny bling bling stuff as "raccoon syndrome"

see, many of these guys are from big cities, so they might not understand that. like when a raccon gets his hand stuck in something because he reaches in to grab something shiny, then his fist is too big to pull out, and he'll sit there and die before he'll let go of the shiny object. stupid racoons. but i like that saying, im gonna start using it. though im gonna have to explain it to all these city kids in Sacramento.

oh, but the tube is better than the OEM one, so change it for the performance, not the shiny.

lol sure go ahead. thats where it derives from and also they are know to steal shiny stuff. Obviously in my pis I have on of those cheap ram intakes with a good filter, but hey, beats the ole plastic pipes. Also , i didnt install a cold air intake because I live in charleston where alot of flooding occurs. [:@]
