Default disconnecting shifter rod from tranny?

having problems getting the shifter rod disconnected from the tranny (manual). its got like a unverisal joint and then a circular pin in front of that nearest to the tranny under the rubber boot. i believe that you are suppose to knock that pin out, but not for sure. i started tapin on it and it didnt budge so i thought i would get some clarity on it. the hayns manual doesnt say how to disconnect it
thanks

i am quoting Sacicons because i asked this same question. "LMAO!!!! now you know why its called a bitch pin. that little pin (i assume you pulled the little U-shaped clip off already) is a pain to get out. you HAVE to get a punch for it that wont go inside of it. if its tapered, then youll pound on it all day. it has to sit flat on the outside of it. then you just pound on it with a hammer till it starts to move. the manual says to replace it whenever you remove it, but ive reused mine like 4-5 times, and its still a pain to remove, so i dont see how its going to fall out. good luck. i hate those damn things." Pull back the boot lookin thing on the rod connected to the tranny knock off the "C" clamp and that the quote from there, i never did get the linkage off i just worked around it lol hehe

You can use a 2 or 3 inch long 1/4" bolt, and it'll work just as good (and you won't have to go looking around for a flat punch...)

Looks like a pneumatic/electric impact driver.

Seriously though, just go get a 1/4" bolt and a hammer and knock it out. It'll take 10 seconds.
