Default 2000 Si from 160 to 260

This is a question for all the pros that love there Si two parts. Money not really an issue but less than $10,000. Wanting to get my car up into the 200s hp zone our above.
Part 1
I have the stock engine, how much boost can i run on it if i was to turbo it? Could the engine handle it? Would i need to modifi it some? And if so wat mods in detail.

Part 2
Is the stock engine any good? Would it be best to just get a new engine that can hold more liters of air? If so what kind and manufacturer? Do i run boost after the new engine?
Dont want to die so wat brakes, wheels and all that other stuff should i get to make it a sweet ride?

O and one more question. So when i floor it it takes a while for me to feel the power like 2 seconds even after the vtec is suppose to kick in and there is this smell comin out of my exaust. what could the problem be. Is it the fuel filter? I run on 93.

if your gunna spend all the money that either one of those would cost youd be better off just selling your car and buying an already fast, and good looking car. like an infiniti g35 that u can get used for about 17k or a nissan 350z that u can get used for about 20k or a mustang or something...or even a new Si that has 197 hp and u won't hafta add anymore cuz that is alot for a civic my friends bmw has 206 hp and it whips and weighs way more than a civic

your stock engine will make 235+whp and you can make around or a lil above 200whp n/a with all factory honda parts.

with stock internals you can run 6-7psi (with a good tune) all day and have no problems (that's what i'mrunning now). at 6/7psi you will have around 220hp to your wheels. If u have the cash then i would get crower connecting rods and cp pistons to beef you engine up, then you could run around 15 psi and have well over 300hp to the wheels.

The engine you have is fine if going to turbo it. the head flows well and it loves boost so i would keep it and do what i mentioned above.

as far as brakes go you could buy a big brake kit from brembo or wilwood, VERY costly but you will be able to stop on a dime.

B16's are good for around 280 to 300whp in stock form no matter what boost level is needed to get there. Then the pistons become a liability as the ringlands like to all but vanish. PSI is to relative of a term to put on a engines capabilities. You can be at 6psi with a td04 and make 200whp or you can be at 6psi with a t3/t4 and make 250+ at the wheels. This brings me to tuning, your car, it's build, and the turbo setup on it is only as strong as it's weakest link. The tune will make or break a engine or the power levels it see's from the mods. Some tuners do good to pull 6 to 8whp per pound of boost and some can pull 13 to 17whp per lb of boost. It has alot to do with what tuning software you use and the person doing the tuning.

I am all about custom turbo setups as you can tailor them to your application better and save a ton of money if you pick and choose your parts correctly but one thing I am very serious about is tuning, expect to pay $400 to up near $1000 for a good tuner to do their job correctly. The money spent is well worth it and even if you do not realize it now or even after you first boost your car you will take notice if/when your engine either does not last, or a tuner pulls a healthy 50whp more from the same exact setup with the same exact boost levels.
