well, if your not calling an sti a sports car, because no one ever said a sports car has to have two doors, thats only what some insurance companies claim, because saying a car with 2 doors is sport, is plain stupid, lets consider a sunfire with two doors, nice sports car, and actually, a sti is not a family sedan, its whats called a performance sedan, its more than a upgraded tranny, its got locking diff, sti suspension, obviously the engine is a 4cy making 300hp, its a very well built car and very fast, bmw and such also make these, and alot of them can lay the smack down on a two door car. Im not sure where u live, but my insurance here does not consider the doors or colour as much as theft and claims that have been made on a vehicle type, and as far as i new, a car with two doors is a coupe, and a convertible is a convertible, and dude, sorry for wrong wording with the sports car on an sti, i should have said performance or sports sedan. now a 4dr neon sx, thats not a sports sedan, but man im worked up about the stilol, but cmon, thats why people are so ignorant to those of us who actually do mod r civics with quality parts and put out good numbers, alot of people say its a economy car, which it is 2 or 4 dr, stock. all im trying to say is an sti is alot more sport, then alot of 2 doors out there. i looked into a 1991 skyline gt-s, and it cost me less for insurance than an 05 cavalier would have, and ive had an accident resulting in claim

350z's are quick... 14 stock, new mustang GT's, not sure what they are supposed to run, but i havnt seen one run under 14's yet, modded or stock.  actually the fastest new stang i have seen at the track was a turboed v6, and he was running low 13's iirc.  I used to loose to the 350z's when i was stock, but i kill those and new GT's now.  a boosted k20, or like already said, an older civic hatch with a n/a k20 swap could take em.

Its pretty common knowledge that 05+ GT stangs can run mid 13's stock (5spd).  Those cars are 3v which respond to mods a heck of a lot better then the old 2v(96-04).  Those people you saw probably just couldn't drive.  What elevation are you at?  That can play a major role as well.

I will have to say +1 for the turbo v6

I hope that hes in denver, if not much higher, seeing as how he hasnt seen anyone in a GT500 run in the 12s or faster, and he hasnt seen a modified GT run better than 14s...

actually im about 110 ft above sea level.

and to be honest with you i dont know if i have seen a gt500 at the track period... so how would i have seen one run 12's.  most mustangs you see at the track are older gens that i really dont care about paying attention to anyway.  but ya, i said i dont know what they are supposed to run, but i havnt seen a new GT in the 13's yet, and if i did, i just dont remember cuz i dont really care.  only mustang im sure about was the turboed v6, and thats only because i thought it was pretty cool and talked to him about it.  The shop in clearwater that does most of my work actually specializes in mustangs(Race Related)...they have some pretty siq ones in the shop, a new gt they did a twin turbo build on, and a couple of older ones.... the owner drives some kind of roush i have never seen before.  the side skirt says "GT 850," or "GR 800" or somthing along thos lines.  never seen him run any of his stangs but im sure they are all pretty bad ass.
