Default $16000 turbo

so.. ive wanted to boost my ex for a while now. and ive been fighting with whether to install it myself or have it installed and all the while i was saving up my money.

i was at work today and i got a text from my friend who said he saw a 03 gti in the paper for 179 a month..

intrigued.. i met up with him after work and we drove out to the dealer to take a look. they showed me the only gti they had left (apparently they had a bunch of em) it was an 04 gti 5 spd. with 32000 miles.

i took it for a test drive.. and i had to have it.

worked out a price and financing and all that.. 16000 out the door.

i'll have pictures up tomorrow.

what do you guys think about gti's??? was it worth it?

a friend of mine has an 02 gti 1.8T. stock it was slow but then he bought the neuspeed power chip which bumped his boost up to somewhere around 13 psi. now his car is quick is as s***! i would recommend doing the same. good luck with it!

dont let these guys scare you...i have owned several Vee Dubs and have never hand any problems...01 1.8T Jetta Wolfsburg ed., 84 cabriolet, 2002 cabrio 1.8 (still own), 02 GTI 1.8T (miss that car). And I am looking to buy a 04 R32 this summer if I can get my civic ready to sell in time and find a r32 that hasnt been rode hard and put away wet. good luck with the car!

So, enlighten me.

Why did you buy an overpriced, slow, turbo car after you test drove it? You could have turboed you're honda for a fraction of the price, learned a ton in the process, and best of all, made more power and have been WAY faster. [&:]

Well, have fun with the car regardless. I guess there's no turning back now, but better have a good warranty.

I think you guys are under the impression that imma forget about my civ.

Wrong. That car will be turbo'd. And I'm going to do it myself so ill still learn the ins and outs. But as of now my civic is a piece and it needs some work. I've wanted the gti since before I even liked civics.

I don't want to be one of those guys who jus buys a car with power n thinks he's the ****. I wanna know what makes a car fast. How to fix it if it breaks. I wanna be a tuner..

But at the same time its nice to have a car that I don't have to worry about breaking down every time I drive it. My civic will just be a project car while the gti will be a daily driver.. That just happens to be way faster than my civic.

I appreciate you guys warning me about that stuff... but the reality is... all cars have problems.. And vw is still a reputable company so I'm not too worried. (I do have a bumper to bumper warrantee btw)

Its gray by the way. I can't remember who asked (I'm typing this on my phone and it sucks t go back and look)

I do have one question tho. Is there any way to combat the lag before the boost kicks in? Its a good half a second to 3/4 of a second before it takes off. What should I do??
