Front brakes out of ballance
I've got a 1992 civic EG9 VTi with a B16A2 engine (its the 4 door saloon). She's just been for an MOT and the dude failed it on a siezed rear near side calliper and out of ballance front brakes. The rear calliper is on order and shouldn't bee too much hastle to change but what to do about the front ballancing? The garage dude told me it needs new pads and discs to solve this but I'm not convinced this is the problem, sounds more like a sticking calliper to me...? Any suggestions as to what I can do to sort this without buying another calliper? |
RE: Front brakes out of ballance
You can try to unfreeze the caliper yourself (if that is indeed the problem) by prying it open with a big-ass screwdriver. The other thing that could be causing the problem is warped disks (rotors). Get the rotors turned and replace the pads (while you're replacing the brakes, you'll be able to tell if the calipers are ****ed up.) Getting the rotors turned should only cost about $18 or $20 (Not sure how that converts to GBP).

pull out the little slider fron the caliper mount, and grease the hell out of them with brake grease. its often overlooked in a brake job.

RE: Front brakes out of ballance
i changed the rear calliper for a recon one and ive put new pads all round, 1 calliper on the front was tougher to wind in, how do i get the sliders out? also you got any idea how easy it is to fit goodridge beake hoses? i have a set ready to fit but it looks rather risky!
