so h22 is a no? i was told to get a b20 from crv... but they only have 130 hp ..h22 is like 190.
the b20 could be built up better and withhold more compression with turbo better then k20.. so he says.. he has a k20... mabey he just dont want me to get faster then him, aey?

if you want a car that is quick, but youre not gonna go crazy on, go with the b20, but not the 126 horse one, get the 99-01 one, it has higher compression and like 146 HP. with the torque those motors have, youll drop most dragers before they have a chance to hit the vtec changeover. it wont be the fastest car in the world, but itll be a blast to drive, and if you decide to get serious, you can always build the hell out of it. and it weighs so nearly the same as other b-series motors, id prefer it over the h22, even sans VTEC. but overall, the b20 is an suv motor, not a race motor, its not given the custom balancing job that the DOHC VTECs are, so it wont live up to the abuse of racing as long. but, on the other hand, they are freakin cheap compared to other b-series. and if you cant get an LSD tranny, be sure to get one from a non-vtec, as the vtec gear ratios will kill your times. oh yeah, and dont street race.

what it you get a h22 and change the vtch kick in to 3 1/2k instead of 5k? then make turbos kick in at 4 1/2 or 5k.. and get LSD tranny so you rev it high on take off.... wouldnt that give ya a perty darn good launch?

if the vtec switches to soon, it will hurt power. and a turbo that kicks in at 4500 is too damn big for a civic. but the LSD is a must, no matter what motor you decide on. though with the b20, youll need an aftermarket one.

Yeah, VTEC is not something to be adjusted on a whim. There's a reason it hits when it does. But I personally think that if you choose a B20, in the long run you'll find yourself wishing you had done something else (once you discover that torque just isn't enough to make you happy...)
