basically they suck at driving and make up an excuse. when they say that, it usually means they didnt shift all the way into gear, scratched 2nd gearor the shift took way to long...

I miss 2nd or 3ed sometimes. As long as you bring the RPM up high just pop it in for a second then shift into the next gear.

In the 6 months i've been driving stick, i've ground it once, i think maybe twice. But especially if you're concentration on just that (as in racing) it shouldn't happen.

when downshifting, if your having a hard time putting it into gear, tap the gas to make the RPMs go up a little, your trying to match the RPMs

downshifting on the streets shouldnt really be needed unless u really need to stop in a hurry and u dont have abs and dont want to lock ur brakes up. it puts a good deal of stress on the engine if u dont do it properly. brakes arecheaper and easierto replace than an engine...if u wana do it the right way, u need to learn a littleheel-toe. brake slightly with toes and bring rev up with heel, then down shift once the rpms have matched. takes some time knowing when exactly to shift and how much pressure to apply but its not that difficult to do.
