Default Replacing stock struts question

Hello! Thread #2.... My first one was in the new section. So I have a 1989 Civic LX and the truts are dryrotting and worn out, they're probably stock... I want to replace the struts with something dependable for my son to use later. Then I look around in the forum and see Struts, Coilovers, Shocks, Strut bars etc.... I don't wan't the car to be a show car or race car, just dependable and sturdy. Don't need to drop it but if that happens (no more than 1") with no side effects, okay. Maybe some of you can make some suggestions; I know this is an older car that a lot of you don't deal with anymore, am I right?
Thanks in advance....

well you dont need anything that belongs in a ferrari. Just go to ebay and score a cheap set, you ought to get rear struts too. but if im wrong somebody should correct me.

I would recommend two options. You can either go OEM, or KYB makes a pretty good OEM replacement that will tighten up the ride a little without changing anything else.

yeah, KYB or a set (all 4) of Tokico Blues (HPs) that should make it handle a little better, but shouldnt set you back too much.
