Default a new guy

sup everyone! new to the site, looks like an awesome place (a lot bigger than any other civic-related forums i have seen! ) I am, however, not new to Civics. i got my first one in 2002. it was a bright red '97 HX. awesome car, i put 110,000 miles on it in 4 years. traded it in late last year for a new ('06) Civic LX coupe (Galaxy Gray / 5-speed manual) i wanted to join a forum where there were a lot of people who knew civics better than i did, and im sure ive found the place.

i try to do a lot of my own work, but i have some simple modding questions and i was looking for some advice/opinions.

cheers
michael

Welcome to HCF!! Feel free to ask ask ask any questions. Except any question about Electric Superchargers, j/k. But seriously, don't. I must say, 110,000 in four years is impressive!

yeah i love driving!

ok ill ask ask ask, though i have been scouring the posts looking for some answers.

1. i want to get some new headlight bulbs, and i want them to mimmick the purple HID lights seen on lexus's, BMWs, etc. i looked at the post about HIDs, and learned a lot in it (about how you dont have to have projectors to have HIDs, though you need ballasts and so on.) now heres my...well, problem i guess. i want the purple look in all 4 of my headlights (my daytime/highbeams AND my lowbeams) but i dont wanna pay $500 for 2 HID kits. i was considering PIAA ultra-plasma bulbs for all 4, but would a combo of ultra-plasmas for the daytime/highs, and HIDs in the lows...work? i dunno, i have an open mind.

2.im looking at getting a set of Rial Como 18's...anyone have any good/bad experience with them? for tires i was lookin at BFG T/A g-force KWDs.

im a student so money doesnt flow very fast for me, but these are the start of my "to get" list.

thanks
michael

ok so ive been reading more HID posts...but i have some questions still. im guessing that everyone who keeps saying that theyre 'gonna lose their high-beams' is talking about a 2-light setup. are my HIDs gonna turn off if i switch to highbeam?

also, everyone keeps saying 12000k's are not good, as far as for seeing things at night. anyone have any pics?

and thanks everyone for making me feel at home here ill try and get some pics upsoon.

cheers
