Hello Everyone,

I just bought a 2004 Civic LX.

I am encountering a strange thing. When I am going downhill at fairly slow speed, and I still have to apply the brakes lightly to slow down, the car would suddenly and momentarily jerk. Once it was strong enough to jerk me forward a little.

It feels like the brakes suddenly got an extra boost even though I am not applying any extra pressure on the pedal. Or else, it may be the transmission suddenly downshifting.

I talked to the dealer and they tell me it is the so-called Grade Pro Logic downshift.

Or could be the air con cutting off at the same time, and momentarily boosting the braking? My air-con was on during those times. But I did not feel the pedal going down more.

But it is a really weird sensation and it is unnerving me, knowing that it can do this anytime. I am not too happy about this. Shouldn't an automatic transmission be smooth at any speed?

Anyone has a similar experience? I should be very glad to know. Thanks.

your rear axle might be slipping. Its where the axle is kinda loose so when you apply the brakes it actually jerks on your rear axle. I hope that its not that problem because it will run you about $500 at a mechanic.

I hope this is not the case since it is a new car. But I suppose anything is possible, even in a new car.

Dealer is trying to pass off the experience I described as normal. He may be right, I don't know.

If there are other owners out there with a similar experience, please let me know. I may be more inclined to believe him then.

Most likley down shift.......thats happend to me before.
