Default RE: d17 215+ hp?

i have been researching the k20 swap and it seems easy, but things have seemed easy befor and have come to be very dificult. with all the tech help i see everywhere i never see anything about the little things.i would assume the k20 is bigger than the d17 already in, so what do i do with the radiator, or an intercooler, in some pix ive seen the oil pan looks to hang down some 2in from the bottom of the car. i really dont need my oil pan to scrape over speed bumps. i love the hp possablities of the k20, i know i can build a stronger n/a k20 that a boosted d17 but i fear its not worth all the hassles. if anyone out there has the k20 swap in a 02 ex coupe plz let me know your thoughts on it. i would like to know if u honestly feel its worth it. one day i hope to retire the civic to trackuse only and build a nice little 9sec car, but untill those days idk if the k20 would b a great daily driver...

I'll I'm going to say is it's possible, and it would be just as much of a headache as putting in a K20.

Why not just put a B-series. Fits like a glove and can get you around 215 with boltons. Ish.

No, a B series does not fit like a glove and it isn't legall.

It is possible to get 300+ out of the d17. Of course reliabilty isn't as good and wouldnt make for a good daily driver. You can do a lot more with a k20 then you can with a d17.

so would the k20 make a good DD even after turboed? and could i put a auto tranny on it so my gf can drive it too, and still be quick? befor yall go nuts, i will only let the auto tranny stay while the car is being used daily. i plan on retiering it to the strip in 09...

Bandwagon? Maybe a radio flyer wagon. The K series motors start at $5,000. You need so much more stuff for the swap, forget it. The mounts aloneare like 5-600. Youd be better off just getting an RSX.........seriously. This swap is like 7 grand, without any labor. Not too many people have it, so there is no K series bandwagon........there is a b16 bandwagon, but those can be seen for $1,000. Pretty big difference.

It's not acheap swap, thats for sure. A k20a3 can be found for 1500, but thek20a and a2, like pete said, start at around 5 grand. You may want to look into k24's as well, they are a bit cheaper and makedecent power. Boosting the d17 is also pricey, a good turbo kit will run you $5000+ with Aem ems and rsx injectors. Just make sure you really like your car before doing any of this.
